Scott Leipski is a Michigan artist and his new outdoor sculptures seemed a natural progression for him. While working in ceramic he was steadily experimenting with other mediums. When the pandemic hit its peak he decided to take the slow down as an opportunity to explore fiberglass.
These outdoor sculptures have a PVC armature covered in urethane foam that is sculpted. Then the sculpture is clad in fiberglass, making them light and strong. He decided to make some pieces and age them in his yard as it was important to see how durable they were. He was pleasantly surprised how they held up and aged so well that he decided to move forward from ceramics into fiberglass and painted sculptures.
Each sculpture brings new insight into the material. You will find his sculptures of whimsy representing ravens, owls, bunnies and other fun objects.
