Jose Acevedo

Wisconsin Artist Jose Acevedo finds inspiration in the beauty of the natural world.  His hand-carved and hand-painted fish decoys are influenced by the tradtion and utilitarian art with a contemporary edge.  His current work focuses on the Great Lakes region, with an emphasis on sustainable resources. He utilizes found and repurposed materials including copper, aluminum, bronze and tin to accent his carvings from Midwestern trees that would otherwise be discarded.  Acevedo lives in Milwaukee where he teaches painting courses at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center.
